The ability to shop at commissaries has been one of my favorite benefits as a veteran. The food prices and no taxes are great, especially since the prices of products at supermarkets off base have increased so much recently. I live far from the commissary, but it is worth driving to because of the better prices and good selection of items. I decided to gather all the commissary locations from the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) website into one easy-to-search place. Every time I would travel to a different state, it would take some time to find the nearest commissary to the area I was staying. Thinking about this, the map has been useful a lot for when I travel. In addition, now when I travel to places and start planning where to stay, I check the map of commissaries for ideas. Hopefully, this list and map can be useful for other veterans or servicemembers deciding to move or travel to a new place.

Personal Tip: When going on international trips I like to look at the map and see if there are any commissaries near where I will travel. For example, in Japan, there are many commissaries and I try to see if it is possible to shop at any near my hotel. They have much cheaper American brand items, but they also have a good selection of local products that are excellent for gifts to bring home.
